BIZWARE IN MANUFACTURING
Client
The client is a manufacturer of residential and commercial building materials with 22 plants in North America and worldwide product distribution.
Situation & Approach
In the continuous manufacturing process, if you don’t catch a quality issue early enough, it can prove to be monumentally costly. Without a manufacturing execution system (MES), it was a challenge for this particular client to manage their supply chain in real time. Since the client wasn’t effectively tracking their inventory, from an order standpoint, they weren’t able to provide guaranteed order deliveries. Installing Bizware was a promising solution for all of their order management and quality issues.
Results
The solution captures production and quality-related data for trending analysis. If a customer has an issue with a product, that product can now be traced back to the exact point in time in the production process. The MES system is interfaced to an ERP supply chain backbone to main time real time inventory levels.
PEOPLESOFT FINANCIALS & SUPPLY CHAIN
Client
The client is a manufacturer of residential and commercial building materials with 17 plants in North America and worldwide product distribution.
Situation & Approach
In order to take advantage of newer technology, the client decided to upgrade from PeopleSoft 8.4 to 9.1. The goal of the upgrade was to streamline the order to cash process and integrate a document imagining system. Griffon Consulting assembled a large, collaborative team of internal and external resources to ensure a timely implementation.
Results
The upgrade effectively streamlined the order to cash process by integrating bar code readers and by processing shipments faster. By integrating a document imagining system, the client is now able to capture transaction-related documentation, which helps them manage their data more efficiently.
PULP & PAPER MILL SYSTEMS CONVERSION
Client
One of North America’s fastest-growing packaging manufacturers with facilities located across the United States and Canada.
Situation & Approach
The client purchased a large paper mill that required a conversion from a TSA (Transition Services Agreement) controlled legacy system (JDEdwards) to the client’s PeopleSoft FSCM 9.1 system within an aggressive timeline imposed by the Department of Justice. They contacted Griffon Consulting for assistance. The solution involved a complex, heavily-integrated suite of applications including a custom MES system, scheduling and trimming software, and a CMMS/Maintenance Management package, all tightly integrated with a PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain backbone. The solution included time-sensitive EDI for Rail Tenders and Advanced Shipping Notices, as well as a document imaging/document delivery system.
Results
The project was completed six weeks ahead of schedule and three months ahead of the Department of Justice deadline. The engagement was a complete success, and by all accounts Griffon exceeded the client’s expectations. The client now has superior reporting capabilities, controls, and ongoing production support from Griffon Consulting.
